Cape Cod is very susceptible due to the condition of the soil (soft and sandy). Each year termites do billions of dollars in damage to homes. Although several different species of termites exist, Subterranean Termites are the most common in the Northeast.
Termites are small white to tan colored insects that feed on wood or similar materials. They will build nests in the soil and the colony will make tubes of mud and saliva that form tunnels to the food source.
